Ashes tour in 14 days and counting

It's been quite a while since I visited this blog and I thought I would mention that that my contributions will begin to appear here once again as the traditional clash between Australia and England is just around the corner.

The first tour match is just 2 weeks away, with the serious business starting on Thursday 21st July at the home of cricket, Lords. (Not to be confused with Sabina park, which is the holiday home of cricket.)

For the first time in years the poms have actually found some players with enough form to possibly give the Aussies a run for their money. Possibly, but not very likely. While the Poms are cutting Bangladesh to pieces, and getting a confidence boost, the Australians will be a much tougher proposition.

The Aussies have 4 batsmen that average more than 50 runs per test. Compare that with England who have only having Andrew Strauss that can match that average. With the relentless way the Aussies grind down their opposition, if the Poms don's start well in the first test, the ashes will be a one-sided affair.

The Aussies greatest opposition for the "summer" will likely be the weather. My early prediction is Australia winning 4 tests and the weather stopping the clean sweep.
